Our family support staff work with the health care provider network and volunteers to coordinate the best possible support following the death of a baby. Typically about 100 new families receive services each year. All services are provided free of charge.
For more information, contact Lori Behrens at lahrens@sidsresources.org
Professional Education
SIDS Resources serves as a source of information and support for health care professionals, child care providers, parent educators, police and other emergency workers who are the first to respond to a family who has experienced an infant death. Ongoing educational programs are presented both to students and working professionals throughout Missouri. Education enables members of the SIDS service network to provide well informed, consistent services for families.
Professional education is also offered to nurses, physicians, child care providers, parent educators, and health educators on the latest recommendations to improve infant health and reduce the risk of death.
To schedule an in-service, contact Carrie Warren at cwarren@sidsresources.org
Community Education and Awareness
SIDS Resources serves as a source of information and support for the parents, grandparents, extended families and friends of newborn babies. Information on the latest recommendations to improve infant health and reduce the risk of SIDS is provided to new parents and caregivers through telephone support, written information and educational materials, and presentations.
SIDS Resources also sponsors community activities and events to increase awareness and educate the general public about infant health, SIDS and other infant deaths.
For more information or to schedule a presentation for a parent or caregiver group, e-mail Carrie Warren at cwarren@sidsresources.org
Research Support
SIDS Resources advocates for research on the local and national level. As an affiliate of First Candle/SIDS Alliance, whose programs include funding research, SIDS Resources supports the focus on SIDS and infant mortality as a medical/research issue and, when possible, financially supports research initiatives.
