Resources for Bereaved Families

If you have experienced the sudden death of an infant to any cause, feel free to contact SIDS Resources. We are here to help in any way we can.

We can send you information, set up an initial home or office visit, and/or connect you with other parents who have experienced a similar loss.

Ongoing telephone and/or email support is provided in addition to the services listed below. We want you to know that you are not alone.

While the pain of this grief is intense, survival is possible through the compassionate support of others. While you may or may not have a supportive network of family and friends, it is often helpful to accept assistance from professionals and other parents who are familiar with the grieving process that is unique to the loss of an infant.

Please allow us to help you, as much or as little as you see fit at any given point in time.

SIDS Resources’ Bereavement Program Description

The death of an infant is tragic. Sometimes, no matter what we do, things happen that we never expect. Whether through newborn death, SIDS, or an accident, infants die leaving their families totally shocked and unprepared. The death of a baby is a shattered dream.

Program Goal

The Infant Loss Bereavement Program assists parents, siblings, extended family members, friends, co-workers, child care providers and other professionals in learning to build the necessary skills to cope with the sudden death of an infant to any cause.

Referrals

Referrals will be accepted in Missouri and surrounding counties for all sudden deaths of infants (after birth through the first year of life).
